It is I, your (less than) faithful correspondent Swiss Mister here, pitching in via the blogoverse as the missus is still in Canada. She's been staying in the Sam and Kristin suite at Morwiner Marwhite's house in Toronto since I left on Tuesday, hunting for a wedding dress and generally having a good time. The really crazy thing: she actually found a wedding dress she liked, and bought it, all in five days! I am totally blown away. It takes me more than five days to buy a lamp or a shoe rack (true story: still don't have the lamp or shoe rack in question.) Even though we had agreed that we weren't going to do any weird "big reveal" on the day-of, Swiss Miss won't show me the pictures. I suspect it's because her dress looks something like this:

Or possibly this. I'm not sure. She sent me both of these, and thinks its funny to keep me guessing till she gets back on Monday.
Anyways, I've been holding down the fort here in Schweizerland. I was happy to see that work did not take a holiday just because I wasn't there. I'm actually in high gear right now, trying to close out a large contract that has been taking up a good portion of my time. Hopefully all will be resolved on Friday, and the Unnamed Company will have one more contractor and I will have one fewer negotiation to contend with. And, from the annals of Tiring Travel and Jetlag Weekly, I went straight from the airport to work on Wednesday morning, and worked long days right through the week, and then made the rather strange decision to stay up until 2am on Friday (i.e., 8pm Toronto time, which I think I am still on), so when Banana finally roused me on Saturday it was already 1pm. So much for an easy transition to Swiss time! Now I'm so effed up timezone wise that I expect to still be confused when we go back to TO for Christmas.
For reasons that are now probably more obvious, I have been taking it easy this weekend, mostly geeking out around the house. Yes, even I "geek out", faithful readers. I know, amazing. Who knew?!? But really, I have taken great joy in doing really mundane things like leveling the dining room table:

Swagging (is that a verb?) the dining room light:
(did you notice that I forgot the Polyfill at the store?)Leveling the dining room buffet:

Buying and filling a tupperware with Banana's five (5) bags of food:

Leveling the dining room side table:

Collecting, and hopefully soon disposing of, our Recycling Mountain(TM):

I am also, sadly, putting the Espresso Cappuccino maker in the closet.... for good. We scoped out a converter for it in Toronto, but the thing would have weighed 20 pounds (9 kilos, 1.41 stone) and looked like one of the droids from the original Death Star:

Ooooh! The house looks good!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the espresso maker. Maybe we can buy a new one in Rome?
As for the dresses, I've always thought cut-outs scream "class and sophistication!!!"
