Swiss (Mister and) Miss proudly presents: The Peaks of Switzerland!
First, to Uetliberg, an 873m peak that is a twenty-minute train ride from Zurich city centre on the "Uetliberger."

(Note for below: not the Uetliberger)

We climbed the observation tower to see the sights of Zurich from above:

We have no pictures of the way down, as we decided to take the "steep" trail and Swiss Miss got a bit perturbed by all the slippery mud and getting lost-ness; capturing her fear for blog-posterity was not considered a high priority. Jess provided sympathy and comic relief (luckily, she went to clown school last summer), while Swiss Mister provided relatively ineffective "tough love" in an effort to coax Swiss Miss down the hill. In the end, we made it and found ourselves in the Zurich suburbs...where there is a donkey farm. Strange but true.
Now to Luzern, to ride the world's steepest cogwheel railway (maximum gradient of 48%!). Special note to Keith and others interested in clean rail technology: this railway line was electrified in 1937. The railway takes you to the top of Mount Pilatus, which some of you may remember from 007's more adventurous exploits... Swiss Mister says the scene involves Jaws chewing through the cable car wires with his metal teeth, and James zip-lining to safety, or some such.

Laura and Jess, being adventurers of the James Bond variety:

Ian and Laura, under the influence of altitude:

Rather than repeat the Uetliberg (or James Bond!) method of descent, we chose the cable car, regular-style:

What else did we do besides mountain-hop? Jess was witness to our housewarming party on Friday night (yes, our first party with real live friends!), and she and Swiss Miss also took in the Kunsthalle. Swiss Miss assures the bloggership that seeing awesome art with an awesome sculptor makes for a delightful Zurichian afternoon.

As they say in Philly: JP 4 Eva.

Enjoyed our chat yesterday. Views are spectacular. Re::Slippery downward slope. Proof positive that the road less travelled isn't always a great idea.
