Zurich: Getting Around
You've seen mention of trains, cable cars, planes, and bicycles as means of Zurichian transportation, but we've discovered a new way to get around: swimming!
Remember the Seebad bar? We were there the other night with Jess, and we managed to snap the following picture:
This posse of pals emerged from the Zurichsee, took off their bathing caps, and were ready to party. Notice, too, the bags they are carrying: dry sacks, full of clothes! Ingenious! Simply tow your belongings as you swim and you too can amphibiously access the lakeside hotspots of Zurich!

I don't know if that's such a great idea. Note the lady in the foreground looks like she has cramps or is in some stage of rigor mortis. Do they have RICKSHAWS? Now there's an idea for a summer business. I'll bet those chubby Bergers would love to be pulled around town by some struggling student type. It would also appeal to that whole superiority thing that lives in the Teutonic mind. Just thought. R.B.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's just a Swiss smile? Or perhaps she's squinting to read the bar menu, hoping to see a "Zander-Teller" special?
ReplyDeleteNo rickshaws here. Between the to-the-second trams and free bike rentals across the city, the transit market is saturated. Plus, the cost of living is so high here, you'd have to pay the rickshawer a small fortune just so he or she could afford to replace the calories expended.
Nevertheless, I will ask Ian to prepare a business case!
