Things to do in Zurich...

We have quite the house guest roster for the next few months, (stay tuned for a blog entry from Aoife, our current Arbeitszimmer inhabitant), but what is there to do as a tourist in this city? Swiss Mister and I seem to be travelling out of Zurich all the time, so we decided to stick around town this weekend and find out for ourselves...

Last night we hit the Seebad for Max's birthday party. The Seebad features a sauna, a lounge-y deck area, complete with pillows and blankets, a bar and mini-restaurant with good and reasonably priced food, AND a pool! They have bounded a section of the Zurichsee with floating docks, and you can sip your drinks, dangle your feet, watch the fountains in the distance, or, if you are really brave, wade into the still-chilly water!
The Seebad pool brings new meaning to "swimming with the fishes."
This morning, Ian and I went for a sea-side brunch and stroll, and we came upon a touristy activity that we have been dying to try for such a long time...
That's right -- a Zurich segway tour!!! OMG, if you come visit us and have the guts to don an orange vest and safety helmet, we will be right there with you! Perhaps we will be as graceful as THIS Segway driver?

Zurich is a lovely city to see...but a few kitschy surprises still lurk in the midst of all the modern functionality and sleek European design. We present, for example, the following:
A "Verein" is a kind of club-thing... So, yes, it took an entire club of nerds to make this amazing light display.

The take-home message here is that Zurich has lots to see and do...and it also features your favourite Swiss Mister and Miss! Book your plane tickets and see us through this long, sunny summer! (Also fall. Also also winter. And there is spring, too...)
