A German man with a collection of expensive sports cars has earned himself the dubious honour of receiving the biggest fine ever for speeding in Switzerland.
The multi-millionaire was caught driving at 140 kilometres an hour in St Gallen, in an area with a speed limit of 100.
He’s been fined nearly 300,000 francs—that’s more than double the country’s previous record. In 2008, a Zurich banker had made headlines when he was fined 110,000 francs.
The German man committed multiple offences and has had his licence confiscated in the past.
His collection of five luxury sports cars includes a Ferrari Testarossa.
*** Swiss Miss note: 300,000 CHF is basically $300,000 CAD. How can the fine be so high? In certain cases, speeding fines can be calculated as a percentage of your income. If you are a rich German business man with a history of speeding, you thus find yourself in a pickle (and I'm sure the being German part doesn't help your case with the Swiss police).
