Schoenen Wochenende

First there was the Friday night Settlers of Catan tournament with Max and Alesha. Yes, Bloggership, we may have reached an apex of nerdiness in our lives... An apex that sees us getting very, very excited about playing board games on a Friday night. But unless you have delved into the world of Settlers yourself, you will not understand the joy that comes from building your German-invented medieval empire. Also, be advised that this is a lengthy game, and a suspicious amount of wine is needed for tip-top play. Wine and, in Friday's case, Prosecco that came in a can. In. A. Can. Classssssy!
Saturday saw a rather slow (read: can induced) start, but we had a coffee with Ian's colleague, his wife, and their cute baby Esme. Esme and I read some German picture books. Apparently, all I need to do to improve my vocabulary is hang out with Swiss-German preschoolers.

Saturday night was birthday dinner! Swiss Mister cooked a culinary delight, and we used our new fish platter for...fish! There was cake, and Prosecco in a bottle. Steppin' it up, folks.

Birthday weekend continued a trip to Davos for skiing, with the ever intrepid Max and Alesha. As you can see (click to embiggen -- we shot on the camera, not iPhone), the day started out lovely:
Then it devolved into fog + full force gale + hail. As Max said, "It's like skiing in milk. Sharp milk."

Now, I'm no doctor, but this seemed both unfun and a wee bit dangerous. Solution: break for lunch!

Swiss Mister!

Naturally, it was sunny far off in the distance...

But overall, the day was a success! Add another day to the Swiss Miss Lifetime Count of Skiing Days Without Tears! This Miss did decide to take the train down at the very end of the day, though... Can you spot the Swiss Miss hiding in this picture?
Tschuess! And schoenen Abend to you all.
