"Switzerland has 13 wind turbines today, and combined they generate less than one percent of the country’s electricity. That figure could rise to 8 percent with another 380 turbines put in place. Wind energy is an integral part of the federal government’s plan to have renewable energy sources contribute ten percent of the country’s needs by 2030. The public is overwhelmingly in favour of wind turbines, but when a proposed site lands too close to their backyard, they can cause long delays and demand costly compensation.
