Hello, Rogue Friend.
I am writing to you because I see that my Wikipedia page has been deleted, and it looks as though you initiated that process:
The page has not been updated or modified for some time. Although the page is biographical and from a neutral point of view, the biography seems self promotional. It does not link to references, provide sources, or demonstrate claims to notability as established in Wikipedia:BIO#Any_biography. Rogue Friend 02:49, 14 November 2009 (XXX)
The validity of the page is not really my issue. If other Wiki-editors agreed that it should be taken down, well, consensus reigns. After all, it is a Wiki. The issue I have is your initiation of this take-down, a move I see as curiously personal and mean-spirited.We first met in grade school as school bus buddies. Then, years later, you looked me up; I got the impression at the time that you were extremely lonely in Toronto, and I was happy to ease that loneliness with the occasional email or coffee. When I went through a lonely patch, you very kindly invited me over for home-cooked dinners. In short, we behaved like friends. Now you have behaved like a total jerk.
I hope you have fun policing the internet and making Wikipedia a more accurate place for everyone. That must be a very satisfying achievement in a small person's life.
Ironically, my page may well be up again soon -- I have recently won/been shortlisted for several literary awards, and I have a book coming out next autumn.
Good luck with your life, and with your friends,
Swiss Miss

To rogue freind. You really suck!!
ReplyDeleteI guess when your life is crap, all you can do is sabotage people who are successful. I'm glad Laura knows who you are. I personally never want to meet you or anyone like you. Enjoy the downward spiral. That's all you have. RB
Rogue Friend DOES really suck!
ReplyDeleteThe Wikipedia page itself is neither here nor there, but what kind of "friend" thinks it's reasonable to police my internet identity?
Looooooooser.
How are your travels? Did you get your lounge pass before leaving???
PS Did you see all the comments for you on the sesquicentennial blog? I tell you, strike while the blog iron is hot!
Wait, you actually know who this person is? How did you crack it? Can you email me the juicy details? I love sleuthing!
ReplyDeleteOh, INDEED I know who this person is! And it was not so hard to crack the case: he used his real name on his Wikipedia profile.
ReplyDeleteActually, so did Ian when he originally wrote the page...
Lesson learned: next internet profile I create is going to be HotBabe69. No trouble can come of that.
And when I'm home I will totally show you the emails -- so amazingly ridiculous.
Point this loser out to me .I wouldn't mind doing a little "cracking" of my own.
