Sesquicentennial blog: read all about it!

Want the inside scoop on what it's really like to live in Switzerland? Check out the new issue of Spacing, which features an article by Swiss Miss about the good, the bad, and the very, very ugly of der Schweiz. Better yet, pick up your mag at Spacing's launch party on December 9. It only costs $10 at the door, and that includes your very own copy of the magazine!

For those of you who are loyal blog readers, you already have some sense of what Zuricherworld is like for us... And now that we are 150 blog posts into our new life, it seems a good time to reflect on what we've accomplished, and where we want to go from here.

Overall, we've achieved a lot, and we are still making progress. Swiss Mister has a new mandate for his job -- more innovation and strategy, less annoying crap -- and Swiss Miss is making some bold career moves of her own...moves she can't talk about at this point, for reasons of confidentiality and negotiation... BUT let's just say that this could be the start of a Swiss Missian Media Empire (TM). Then again, it could just be a learning experience...

Before this blog gets any more cryptic, I should say that we have come to a realization: Swiss life is good, on balance, but it's not for us long(er) term. There is a limit to the happiness we can achieve here at this point in our lives, and we are actively looking ahead to the next move. That's not to say we aren't still pursuing our options here, or that the next move is happening soon. Rather, we're just trying to think ahead and get our proverbial ducks in a row so that we can make the best possible jump when the time is right.

  1. Hey Possum and Ian, Glad to hear of New Horizuns and challenges. Bonne Chance. I would crash the Spacing party ifI was in town that day. I will be in Boston. I am going down to re-enact Paul Reveres' famous midnight ride. (I really shouldn't make bets in Bars even if I feel I am totally right.(One if by land-two if by sea!?!?. (See next attachment which Laura will kindly post for me.It explains everything). RB

  9. Wow, so many comments! I went to the Spacing party and much revelry was had. Matt B was also a speaker at an event I helped coordinate last week and he specifically mentioned Swiss Miss's article!

  11. Hmm, Spacing seems to have a problem updating its website. When I clicked on "The current issue" I got http://spacing.ca/wire/2009/08/17/spacings-new-issue-and-release-party/

    I must persevere...
