Reflectations and amusings

As many of you know, Swiss Miss suffers from rosacea. Things are a lot better since she hooked herself up with a dermatologist on the Bahnhofstrasse, although you wouldn't know it from the report she got early this morning: "You don't look as good as you think you look." Translated into Canadian, this means, "I see a lot of improvement, but we still have a ways to go." I am pleased -- this means I'll be on the crazy drugs (note: they have not actually made me crazy, but this is a potential side effect) through the wedding. The result will hopefully be a tickled pink -- instead of fire-engine red -- bride.

Apparently we don't get enough Germanic culturisms here, so we are heading to the source: we're leaving for Germany this afternoon, and we'll be visiting Berlin and our lovely friends Matt and Lucy who live there. We haven't seen Lucy since she lived in Oslo, and we haven't seen Matt since...IMD! Ich bin ein Berliner!

"I appreciate my interpreter translating my German."
(Tell me about it, JKF.)

  1. Kennedy's Bostonian accent actually inflected (or infected?) the speech to translate roughly "Iam a do-nut". The Krauts took it in good humour. In those days there weren't too many laughs in that beleagured city.
